Class Difference and the Digital Divide

CCT's Dr. Bill Tally discusses his research on what happens after access to digital technology among children from different socio-economic classes in the article "Are Class Differences in Parenting Creating a New Digital Divide?" in the MacArthur Foundation's Spotlight on Digital Media and Learning. Although Tally studied the question a decade ago, his findings are in line with new research that shows that properly contextualizing technological tools is more important than simply having access to them, and that parents' class differences reinforce a "digital divide" between the haves and the have-nots.
