Louisa Anderson

Louisa Anderson began her education at Penn State University as an education major, but quickly developed a love of theatre, especially theatre production. After completing her bachelor's degree in 1965, she moved to the Big Apple. She worked as a secretary and office manager for a number of years before being able to return to her love of the arts. As a program associate for a grant-making agency, she developed community service activities throughout New York State for individual artists who had received grants. She subsequently began working a masters degree at NYU, at which time she joined the Colonnaides Theatre Lab as the production manager. As with many small theatre groups in New York City, the company eventually folded, and the degree work was not completed.

Louisa took the skills that she had learned in theatre, however, and began to work with special events, beginning with a building dedication at Memorial Sloan Kettering Center. Eventually she became the Special Events Manager for the hospital, organizing everything from school tours to a reception and tour for the Prince and Princess of Japan. After taking time off to have 2 children, she returned to the field of special events at Girls Incorporated (formerly Girls Clubs of America), working on both their annual fundraising luncheon and their awards programs for affiliate centers and their membership.

She joined EDC’s Center for Children and Technology in 1996 as a researcher and now serves as the administrator for several projects that investigate technology and/or equity of access. Her responsibilities include budget management, scheduling, fundraising research, report preparation, liaison with advisory boards and consultants, and information management, among other things. Louisa organizes meetings and conferences as required by each project, drawing on her background in theatre. And because of her previous fundraising experiences, she works on the technical aspects for the submission of CCT proposals. She also oversees the high school intern program for the office.
