The 5th World Summit on Media and Children
Senior researcher Shelley Pasnik presented at the 5th World Summit on Media and Children insights from the Ready to Learn program evaluation and the use of media to support young children’s literacy.
Mar 24-28 2007

Senior researcher Shelley Pasnik gave two presentations at the 5th World Summit on Media and Children. Both presentations shared insights from our work on the Ready to Learn program implementation and evaluation. The first presentation was part of a panel focused on public broadcasting programs for children, which included examples from Japan, Europe and Latin America in addition to PBS. A representative of the South African Broadcasting Corporation facilitated the session. The second talk was part of a plenary session on innovations and special projects. For this session, Shelley described the use of media to support young children’s literacy.
The programme for the 5th World Summit on Media for Children was the culmination of a series of pre-summit activities held locally and across the globe. These activities shaped the agenda of the summit, ensuring a diverse tapestry of expertise and knowledge at this Summit. More than 90 countries were represented at the summit.
