Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH)
2011 to 2013

CCT worked with the New York City Department of Education, CUNY, and IBM on the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) project to document the process of designing and launching the school, as well as to document the school's first year in operation. P-TECH is an innovative school for grades 9-14 that integrates core curriculum, a strong focus on STEM, and career-readiness in one program.

The work was divided into two phases. The first phase focused on the planning and implementation process that took place before the start of the school year. In the months preceding the launch, CCT conducted observations of key meetings, interviews with project personnel, and reviews of relevant documents. The second phase extended throughout the entire first year of the school's functioning, and sought to capture key aspects of the life of this new school by observing classroom activities and conducting follow-up interviews with teachers, administrators, students, parents, and project staff.
