Melissa Avelino, a highly experienced financial analyst and project manager, has deep expertiseinanalyzing complex data to build solid financial models and develop strategic plans. She brings a strong background in public and private finance to her work furthering EDC’s development, fiscal management, and portfolio performance goals.
Avelino advances efforts to deepen the education field’s understanding of how technology can enhance teaching and learning. In collaboration with instructional designers and researchers, she guides the development of business proposals that meet the requirements of government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Working closely with the division financial director, colleague analysts, and EDC’s Administration & Finance team, she maintains sound fiscal operations and ensures compliance by applying effective management and monitoring protocols.
Prior to joining EDC, Avelino was a senior financial analyst in the State of Texas Office of the Governor, in which capacity she served as a subject matter expert, coordinated lending and incentive programs, and synthesized information to build financial models and testing tools. For five years, she was a business case analyst and financial analyst for the Office of the Bankruptcy Trustee in Austin, Texas.
Avelino received an MBA, with concentration in Finance, from St. Edwards University and attained a BS in Finance from Boston College. She is a CFA Level II candidate.
