Jay joined CCT in 2010 to work primarily on game-based learning initiatives, including Portable Wordplay and Possible Worlds. Since then, he has worked on projects dealing with social studies and economics education, teacher professional development, and the Maker movement. On many of these projects, Jay’s principal role has been to conduct formative research, either informing the development of CCT digital media projects or formulating design recommendations for our partners.
Before joining CCT, Jay was a freelance game designer, curriculum designer, and writer on a number of domestic and international educational gaming projects. He's also managed an after-school game design program in New York City, and has worked as journalist specializing in urban housing issues. He has a BA in the communication of political economy from the City University of New York, and is a certified Ducati motorcycle mechanic.
