Teaching Primary Sources
2017 - 2018

As part of EDC's ongoing involvement with the Library of Congress's Teaching Primary Sources program, we've joined the TPS Consortium—29 organizations that are helping the Library advance the work of teachers across the country who are using the Library's collection of historical artifacts with students in their classrooms.

We are serving as the Consortium's research partner, and are developing a series of small- to mid-size research projects in collaboration with other Consortium partners. These studies are designed to advance understanding of strategies for supporting teachers and students in using primary sources to make sense of our nation's past, present, and future. EDC is gathering and synthesizing existing research, studying the effectiveness of various curriculum interventions, creating scalable assessments, and developing collaborative research projects with classroom teachers.
