Big Math is Big News

In "Big Math for Little Kids: The Effectiveness of a Preschool and Kindergarten Mathematics Curriculum," CCT's Ashely Lewis Presser and Peggy Clements, along with co-authors Herb Ginsberg and Barbrina Ertle, describe their research findings from a cluster-randomized controlled trial of a mathematics curriculum developed for use with 4- and 5-year-old chidren.
The article, in the journal Early Education and Childhood Development, concludes that the Big Math for Little Kids curriculum, which is designed to help teachers use play-based, developmentally appropriate math instruction, has a postitive impact on young children's mathematics knowledge.
