Monkeying Around with the NYT

Thursday, April 6, 2017

In "Learning to Think Like a Computer," an article published in the April 9 Sunday New York Times, writer Laura Pappano reviewed several new initiatives to teach computational thinking. Among them was the NSF-funded "Monkeying Around" project, a partnership between CCT and public media station WGBH in Boston, designed for 3- to 5-year-olds. Animated and live-action videos will feature cartoon monkeys getting into mischief and then applying computational thinking to make things right, along with resources for parents to support learning at home. "We see it as a groundbreaking curriculum," says Marisa Wolsky, executive producer of children's media at WGBH.
