New America has published a wide-ranging question-and-answer session with CCT director Shelley Pasnik on the Ready To Learn Initiative and the role of public media in early childhood education. Writer Shayna Cook conducted the interview in December, but its publication today is especially timely, given the drastic cuts to federal funding for education in the administration's proposed budget. Pasnik addresses the role of public media in education, the importance of parental participation in early childhood learning, advances in educational technology, the growing emphasis on transmedia, and key insights for educational researchers.
