In "Working Together: How Teachers Teach and Students Learn in Collaborative Learning Environments," published in the January issue of the International Journal of Instruction, CCT's Elizabeth Pierson and co-authors Mary Burns and Shylaja Reddy describe the effects of a professional development program for middle-school math and science teachers in India.
According to the article, "The research ... suggests that when teachers see positive changes as a result of their actions, their deeply-held beliefs about traditional instruction may conflict with what they in fact witnessed in their classrooms."
