It's Not a Tool Unless You Use It

CCT Director Shelley Pasnik weighed in on the use of mobile devices in the classroom in the article, "Amidst a Mobile Revolution in Schools, Will Old Teaching Tactics Work?" published on the MacArthur Foundation's Spotlight on Digital Media and Learning website.
New technology is being adopted in classrooms at a record pace, but is pedagogy keeping up? "That's where the pedagogical practice comes into play, with a thoughtful use of tool sets," says Pasnik. "It's what you do with [a mobile device], and how it's supported, how teachers and students know to learn, and to use those tools. It's part of the complex nature of learning."
