Shelley Pasnik gives a summary and then details positive findings from our recent study of a PBS KIDS transmedia mathematics curriculum in a posting on the Fred Rogers Center blog.
The study, which was a collaboration with SRI International as part of our Ready To Learn initiative work, examined whether a teacher-implemented curriculum featuring technology, videos, and activities could positively influence math skills in preschoolers from disadvantaged backgrounds. The study found that children did learn significantly more math, and that teachers expressed both greater comfort with technology and more confidence in their math teaching after the 10-week implimentation.
