Looking and Learning to Leverage Student Strengths

In "Learning to Look, Looking to Learn," in the October–December issue of K–12 STEM Education, Babette Moeller and co-authors suggest strategies to help teachers refine their understanding of individual students' academic strengths, challenges, and preferences. The authors discuss the importance of learning how to observe students and then how to use what they learn from their observations to assess student learning and plan effective lessons for a wide variety of learners.
