CCT portfolio director Naomi Hupert was interviewed in a report on the possible impact of the new Alabama Literacy Act by National Public Radio affiliate station WBMH in Birmingham.

As an expert in educational research focused on literacy learning, Hupert spoke of the potential negative effects of the law. "Often retention policies are almost like a punishment for a child for failing to learn to read," she said.
