Andrea Brothman has deep knowledge of K–12 educational settings and systems. She is particularly interested in the intersections among constructivist pedagogy and technology, project-based learning and maker spaces, and professional development through action-research. She joins CCT as our senior curriculum and instructional designer.

Andrea currently works on the Math for All project, a video case study-based professional development program designed to enhance K–5 teachers’ skill in implementing standards-based math education for all learners, including those with disabilities. She coaches teachers and administrators as they learn to approach lesson planning by leading with learners’ neurodevelopment profiles. 

She also is on the IDEAS 2 project team, collaborating with the New York Hall of Science, with a focus on extending the current makerspace curriculum.

Andrea received her MA in Educational Communication and Technology from New York University, and her BEd in Elementary Education from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Prior to joining CCT, she was the director of instructional technology at Perelman Jewish Day School, where she led large-scale technology initiatives, evaluated technology tools, developed policy, and oversaw the makerspace program. She also served as an instructional technologist and adjunct faculty member at Bank Street College of Education, where she supported faculty's use of technology in course work, developed the college's graduate course on technology integration into K–8 curriculum, and helped classroom teachers conduct action research on the impact of technology integration on children's learning. She entered this field as the program producer for Video-Link, a middle-school media production and media literacy initiative, where she saw the potential for technology to transform learning experiences for struggling readers and writers. She started Media Matters, a video production program for adjudicated youth and children transitioning out of state foster care in Wilmington, Delaware.
