Thirteen/WNET African-American Lives Evaluation
2006

Thirteen/WNET New York asked CCT to serve as the evaluators of 'The Story in History: Engaging Youth in African American Lives,' an initiative to connect underserved teens with the upcoming African American Lives series. The program uses the series as an entry point to engage these teens in an active investigation of their own histories. Nationally, Thirteen partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Ancestry.com, History Mentors, and eight public television stations to work with teens to create media projects and personal histories inspired by the series. The initiative's goal was to help participating teens think like historians and explore through active research the connections between their lives and the stories illustrated in the national broadcast. We documented the program's impact, analyzing program outcomes and providing feedback to help improve the implementation.
