Lois Kohn-Claar is a former high school social studies teacher with several years' experience coordinating online curriculum development and teacher training. At the EDC Center for Children and Technology, Ms. Kohn-Claar is an Associate Project Director whose responsibilities include curriculum design and professional development both online and offline, and web development. Currently she is working on the Schools Around the World (SAW) program sponsored by the Council for Basic Education. SAW is a multinational professional development model designed to give science and math teachers from around the world the opportunity to use student work to reflect upon their own teaching practice. Prior projects at CCT include the American Memory Fellows project with the Library of Congress, National Kids Biodiversity Project with the American Museum of Natural History, and the IBM/PBS CyberSchool for the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Before coming to CCT, at Thirteen/WNET in New York, Ms. Kohn-Claar was the manager of Learning Link, a pioneer K-12 educational online network. Also at Thirteen/WNET she developed technology training workshops for teachers and administrators. Ms. Kohn-Claar holds both a B.A. and an M.S. Ed from the University of Pennsylvania.
