Projects
For four years, the Education and Research Consortium's An Adventure of the American Mind initiative has piloted and implemented an educational program designed to train teachers to use the Internet and the digitized primary source materials of the Library of Congress' American Memory collections. More than 600 preservice and in-service teachers have participated in the program.
CCT conducted an evaluation of the program and its impact on participating teachers, their schools and their students. Specifically, CCT examined teachers' use of primary sources, technology- and inquiry-based pedagogies in teaching and lesson planning, and teacher participation in professional growth networks. CCT also examined students' ability to read and interpret primary documents and find and evaluate web materials.
