American Social History Project Evaluation
2004 to 2009

CCT is evaluating a federally funded Teaching American History project aimed at improving the knowledge of American history and teaching practice of middle school and high school teachers in Regions 4 and 7 of the New York City Public School system. The program, run by the American Social History project at the City University of New York, is designed to help teachers broaden their grasp of American history content and refine their approaches to teaching American history, such as make effective use of historical source materials with children. CCT is developing a set of assessment tools to help teachers become more aware of their historical thinking as well as the historical thinking of their students.
