The Playful Invention and Exploration Network Evaluation
2001 to 2004

The Playful Invention and Exploration Network (PIE Network) is the collaborative effort of several museums to engage youth and their families in more creative and inventive uses of new technologies. These uses promote artistic invention and playfulness in science learning and make research-based educational technologies, and the ideas underlying them, accessible to a broad and more diverse audience.Working closely with the PIE project partners, CCT developed an embedded evaluation to help participants, project staff, and the larger public audience of parents, community-based organizations, and business groups share questions, examples and promising practices that emerge from the project. The data gathered was used for formative purposes during the implementation of the project and in a summative evaluation of the project and its impact.
