Juliette Heinze, better known as Cricket, has been working in education since 1995. Throughout the past ten years, her primary focus has been on programs and institutions, which support the education of English Language Learners.

Cricket began her career in Costa Rica, where she went to teach English in a public elementary school through WorldTeach (WT), a non-profit organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Remaining in Costa Rica for a few years, she coordinated several projects involving volunteer WT teachers, American high school students, and Costa Rican adults. After returning to the United States in 1997, she became a second-grade Spanish bilingual teacher at an elementary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). There, Cricket and several colleagues developed a system for integrating students of different races and language abilities, with the goal of enhancing their English oral-language development and cultural sensitivity. During her three years as a teacher in L.A., Cricket also obtained a California Clear Credential in Elementary Education through LAUSD's District Intern program.

In 2000, Cricket moved to New York City and acquired a master's degree in education and sociology at Teachers College, Columbia University. While pursuing her degree, she joined CCT, where over the past five years, she has worked on various research projects and formative evaluations including several, which examine the potential impact that standardized assessment data and technology-based tools have on instructional decision-making.

Cricket also works as a freelance writer for Scholastic's Instructor and Administrator magazines.
