Center for Arts Education Student Impact
2000 to 2001

The Center for Arts Education (CAE) funded a pilot project to gather evidence of student learning in 12 arts-integrated classrooms where teachers worked in partnership with teaching artists. CCT examined how the classrooms were structured; what instructional methods were used; what arts materials, resources, and facilities were used; and what kinds of actions, behaviors, or expressions---by both the teachers and teaching artists as well as the students---were germane to their working or learning in the arts. This project set the stage for a subsequent two-year project (funded by the National Endowment for the Arts) jointly undertaken by CAE and CCT.
