Project ConTExT Evaluation
2003 to 2006

CCT evaluated Project ConTExT, a three-year pre-service teacher professional development project led by Bank Street College of Education. Project Context sought to extend and enrich the preparation of teacher candidates through technology-rich field placements where teacher candidates use technology tools to support students with diverse needs. Recognizing the power of field experiences, ConTExT has worked to develop 72 classrooms and clinical faculty/cooperating teachers to be technology-rich field placement sites for teacher candidates at Bank Street College and five other area teacher education institutions. In these field sites, teacher candidates help clinical faculty/cooperating teachers design and implement appropriate technology applications within an integrated, inclusive curriculum. The project also worked with Bank Street College faculty who serve as conference group advisors to integrate technology as a tool for reflection and learning into Bank Street conference groups.

CCT gathered timely formative data to guide program implementation, conducting interviews with project participants, observing workshops and field placement classrooms, as well as examining participants' action research papers, samples of student work and other documents from the project's implementation. CCT also conducted summative evaluation research to assess the impact of the project on teacher candidates.
