HEDS-UP
2005 to 2008

Higher Education Disability Support-Universal Design Principles (HEDS-UP) was a three-year project led by Bank Street College of Education to design and implement a model program for enhancing the quality of undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs for students with a range of learning disabilities. The project developed three multimedia professional development modules and conduct professional development for teacher education faculty to enhance their abilities to make modifications and accommodations for students with learning disabilities. The model program was implemented within the general and special education programs at Bank Street College of Education and San Jose State University (SJSU). CCT served as the external evaluator for this project. The evaluation assessed the impact of the project on the teacher education programs at Bank Street and SJSU, as well as the faculty and students in these programs. The evaluation research also helped guide program implementation and document program outcomes.
