National Geographic asked CCT to conduct an audit of its online educational resources, specifically its Xpeditions and Education and Children's Program web assets, and make recommendations to guide their redesign. CCT conducted a content analysis (e.g. topics, academic subjects and grade levels that lesson materials address; teaching strategies employed), and a media features analysis (e.g., media formats used - print, graphics, animation, video or photographs; and types of user interaction that are supported) to examine the offerings. CCT also interviewed state education department officials in key states and held focus groups with classroom teachers to better understand geography's role in current curriculum requirements and frameworks as well as classroom practices. Based on this research, CCT made strategic recommendations for a next-generation teacher resource featuring rich media assets, modular design, and social media components.
