Helga Perez has been involved in education and educational media since 1996. During her years at EDC's Center for Children and Technology (CCT), she has worked on program evaluations of technology use and implementation within school districts and professional development initiatives.
In addition to her work at CCT, Helga has worked in various capacities as an educational technology consultant for non-profits, such as The Fund for the City of New York, Vision Education, United Neighborhood Houses' Learning Centers and Sociedad Educativa de las Artes. Her work has involved different aspects of educational technology, including curriculum development, teaching children, youth, adults and senior citizens, and producing a community oral history website. She conducted the New York interviews for a national study on Latino parents' college knowledge with the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute, and worked as the coordinator for the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival's High School Program.
Helga also works as a consultant for the Centro de Estudios Puertorriqueños/ Center for Puerto Rican Studies where she develops educational web projects using materials from Centro's archival collections.
Helga holds a B.A. in Media and Education from Hampshire College, and an M.A. in Educational Communications and Technology from New York University.
