The Relationship Between Arts Education and Academic Achievement

November 1, 2006

In October 2006, Regional Educational Laboratory for the Northeast and Islands (NEIREL) received a technical assistance request from New York State's Commissioner of Education and Board of Regents for information about the relationship between learning in the arts and academic achievement. In response to this request, NEIREL conducted a literature review on this relationship, including program evaluations, comprehensive summaries of research in the field, and meta-analyses, which were delivered in report form.

This report has been submitted to IES for review. When available, it can be access from the Regional Educational Laboratory Program website.
